— PSALM 66:1
Dear Children have you ever been awakened by the singing of the birds? These little creatures that the Lord God has made wake early in the morning, and the first thing they do is sing. It seems there is not one that does not sing, nor do they sing half-heartedly, but they all sing loudly, making a joyful noise to the Lord, singing the praises of their Creator. What an example the birds are for us! We also should make a joyful noise to the Lord in the morning when we get out of our beds. Each of us must stop and ask ourselves, “Do I do this when I wake in the morning? Are my first thoughts of God, thanking Him for His Son and gospel, and that I may wake to a new day?”
Have you ever taken time to think about how good the Lord is to you? Haven’t you heard the gospel of salvation in Jesus already hundreds of times in your young life? Millions of boys and girls have never heard even once the good news about Jesus saving sinners. Don’t you have a Bible to read and a church to go to where you may hear the Bible explained? Thousands of boys and girls have no Bible, no church, and no minister to explain the Word of God to them.
Are you lying sick in a bed or dying as many children are in hospitals? Do you have food to eat every day? Many children die every day because they have no food to eat. Do you have parents who love you, clothe you, and give you a home in which to live? There are many children who have been left with no parents, no home, and have only rags for clothes. Oh children, the Lord is so good to you. How worthy He is that we should make a joyful noise to Him each day!
“Praise God from whom all blessings flow, praise Him all creatures here below.”
